Coz’s Pizza & Pub has a rich history of serving delicious pizza to the Curran, Illinois community, beginning on June 1, 1996. After retiring from Lincoln Land Community College, John “Coz” Costello embarked on a new culinary journey by opening his restaurant in a converted pole barn just a few miles west of White Oaks Mall on Route 36. With Mrs. Coz tending the bar and their 14-year-old son Tim washing dishes and busing tables, Coz's quickly became a beloved local spot, seating 35 patrons and offering a bar for five. The restaurant grew immensely popular, leading to packed rooms and standing-room-only accommodations. This demand prompted many patrons to opt for carryout orders, including one memorable family who enjoyed their pizza on the hood of their car.Recognizing the need for expansion, the Costelloe family constructed a new building on Ash Grove Drive in Pleasant Park, which opened on June 1, 2000. This larger venue could comfortably house over 130 patrons and featured a lounge with space for 28. With this move came the introduction of Coz's frozen pizza line, establishing a factory west of Springfield in 2002. For several years, the frozen pizza operation thrived, allowing more people to enjoy Coz’s signature flavors from the comfort of home.In 2009, the Costelloe's sold Coz's to focus on their growing frozen pizza enterprise. However, the allure of the restaurant business was strong for Tim, who, in 2011, expressed a desire to return to the roots his family had cultivated. In response, Coz made the decision to close the frozen pizza operation and opened J.T. Costelloe’s in Piper Glen, marking a return to the vibrant restaurant scene.
As of June 1, 2021, the Costelloe family celebrated 25 years of serving their famous thin-crust Chicago-style pizza to central Illinois. This milestone reflects their dedication to quality, community, and the lasting legacy of a family-run business that continues to delight generations of pizza lovers.-
